Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues a Statement Regarding Lessons to be Drawn from the Hurricanes’ Damage upon America
By SITE Institute
October 4, 2005

The Information Department of al-Qaeda in Iraq issued a statement today, October 4, 2005, elaborating on the group?s sentiment of lessons drawn from the hurricanes, (referred to as ?Allah soldiers?), damage and destruction upon America. The message indicates four points for investigation, which besides being ?pleased when we see the hurricanes devastate the faithless stronghold America,? should be understood in light of alleged deserved punishment, lack of faith, and inherent weakness of man.

According to the statement, one point of view may see the hurricanes as ?punishment? for America and alleged ?sins and tyranny? in Iraq; however, destruction may also be visited upon the Muslims if they stray from faith. If the enemy?s ?strength is taken from our weakness,? then the group believers that Muslims must not fear the ?infidels? and maintain faith. Further, the group claims America?s portrayal of Muslims as ?underdeveloped and thieves? was revealed as hypocritical, since after the hurricanes? devastation, the world ?witnessed the amount of brutality and the barbarity that this oppressing nation (America) is suffering from… Isn?t that a lesson to them for the sane to witness what had happened to the Americans??

A full translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.
