“The Difference Between the Helpers of Allah and the Helpers of the Devil” – A Video Issued by Ansar al-Sunnah

October 7, 2005

Ansar al-Sunnah recently issued an hour and ten minute video following an advertising campaign for its release on jihadist forums, titled: ?The Difference Between the Helpers of Allah and the Helpers of the Devil.? The video contains myriad clips of American soldiers dining, training, and capturing insurgents - footage which is stated to have been procured from a ?crusading military camp? found on a ?renegade soldier, after he fell into the hands of the mujahideen? - juxtaposed against films of mujahideen engaged in like activities and operations, to visualize the dichotomy between the ?infidels? and Muslims. In addition, the video contains speeches by mujahideen before executing suicide operations, followed by eulogies in a ?Procession of Martyrs.?

The scenes depicting American soldiers are dubbed with Qur?anic verses and disparaging narration, accusing the ?followers of the devil?of avarice, excessive force, and humor, while those clips of the mujahideen show serious training, religious prayer, and order. In one particular scene, subtitled: ?Freedom according to the American meaning,? American soldiers are seen handling suspects and prisoners in a rough manner, to which the video states: ?After belief in Allah almighty, there is no greater duty than fending off the assailing enemy. Therefore, Allah almighty has commanded us to wage Jihad against the infidel servants of the cross and their renegade helpers who have corrupted religion, and have robbed the goods of the Muslims.? Subsequent scenes show captured Iraqis, Jordanians, Turks, Japanese, and Nepalese who are alleged to have collaborated with Americans, and captive, displaying their ?confessions,? and in some cases, pictures of their bodies following their execution.

The remainder of the video concerns the ?martyrs? of Ansar al-Sunnah, recounting their operations, wills, and final prayers. One scene tells a story of ?three lions of Tawhid who sacrificed themselves in order to help this religion,? who set out with a group of more than twenty mujahideen to engage a convoy of American forces. As the video describes, the mujahideen did not anticipate additional convoys of Americans to envelope their forces, so the three ?lions? set out on a ?martyrdom? mission to draw their fire while the remaining mujahideen escaped. The funerals of the three men are then shown.

The video clip, summary, translation of selected portions are provided to our Intel Service members.
