Ansar al-Sunnah Announces the “Harvest” in al-Mosul, and Claims Responsibility for Bombings Targeting Iraqi Forces in Samarra and Kirkuk
By SITE Institute
October 11, 2005

Ansar al-Sunnah issued three communiqués today, October 11, 2005, announcing the ?harvest? of the mujahideen in al-Mosul between October 8-10, and claims responsibility for bombings targeting an Iraqi base in Samarra and Iraqi police patrols in Kirkuk.

The first communiqué describes three operations executed by the group in the ?harvest? in al-Mosul, including the assassination of two members of the Kurdish National Union Party on Saturday, and attacks on a checkpoint of the ?referendum voting center? in the Moharabeen section on Sunday and Monday, October 10.

According to the second communiqué, the group yesterday launched four C5K rockets at a ?converters? den? in al-Qaimmaqamiya in Samarra, north of Baghdad.

The third message describes an ambush today of two Iraqi police patrols at the western entrance to Kirkuk, involving the detonation of three improvised explosive devices (IEDS), allegedly destroying one car and damaged the others. According to the message, the losses to the police are unknown since the road was immediately closed following the operation.

A full translation of the three messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
