The Victorious Army Group [Jeish al-Ta'eifa al-Mansoura] issued a statement today, October 12, 2005, declaring war on the Islamic Iraqi Party and its leadership, specifically mentioning Muhsin Abdul Hamid, the head of the party, and Tariq al-Hashemi, its General Secretary. According to the statement, the party is targeted for calling upon Iraqis to vote ?yes? to constitution, which ?admits the lawfulness of the infidel constitution, and by that it helps the infidels over the Muslims.? The group believes that the party is not representative of the Sunni people in Iraq, and its choice to endorse the constitution is alleged evidence of their supporting the ?Jews and Christians… against the Muslims in this decisive battle between a constitution made by Allah for His creation.?
The group threatens the party?s leadership and all who support them, and promises ?they should receive from the mujahideen their fate.?
Media reports indicate that the Islamic Iraqi Party, a major Sunni political organization within Iraq, reached an agreement today with the Kurd-Shi?ite coalition that may aid passage of the Iraqi constitution.
