Ansar al-Sunnah Claims Responsibility for Bombing Operations Targeting American Forces in al-Mosul, al-Khalidya, Kikruk, and Heet
By SITE Institute
October 12, 2005

In four communiqués issued today, October 12, 2005, Ansar al-Sunnah claims responsibility for bombing operations targeting American forces in al-Mosul, al-Khalidya, Kirkuk, and Heet.

The first communiqué states that an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated today on an American forces? convoy composed of several Humvees in al-Mosul. A Humvee was damaged and the ?whereabouts? of those inside are not known.

On Sunday, as the second message describes, two IEDs were detonated in an operation targeting two American Humvees in al-Khalidya, in Anbar province.

According to the third message, two IEDs were detonated in two separate operations on American vehicles in Kirkuk on Monday, October 3, 2005: one in Safra and the other in al-Sayed Hamid. Also, the same day, the group blew up a ?stolen oil pipeline? of the American forces.

The fourth communiqué lists four operations executed by the group ?in spite of the seizure, inspections and aimless bombings? within Operation River Gate in Heet. Three Humvees and a troop transportation vehicle are alleged to have been destroyed.

A full translation of the four messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
