Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility for Bombings Targeting American Forces and Iraqi Police, and Assassinations of Iraqi Officials in Baghdad and al-Mosul

In six communiqués issued today, October 25, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq claims responsibility for attacks yesterday including the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) on an Iraqi police patrol in Jarf al-Nadaf, kidnapping and executing a ?converted policeman? in al-Mosul, assassinating an assistant to Sistani in al-Huseiniya, in Baghdad, and a Badr member in charge of security in Baghdad al-Rasafat, and a suicide bombing targeting an American convoy in al-Mothanna, allegedly destroying an armored vehicle. The group also claims responsibility for an attack Sunday on Iraqi police in al-Nour, in al-Mosul, allegedly killing five policemen.
