Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues a Statement Concerning Alleged Media Lies and the Number of American Casualties in Iraq
By SITE Institute
October 31, 2005

Al-Qaeda in Iraq [Tanzeem Qaedat Al-Jihad Fi Bilad Al-Rafidayn] issued a statement on Saturday, October 29, 2005, alleging that the foreign media channels have obscured the ?truth? of the severity of crimes committed in Iraq by the ?crusaders?, as well as the number of American casualties in Iraq. The group alleges that the media employs several tactics to confuse the minds of people, as a means to ?gain false acceptance? of the war, and additionally, claims that the real number of dead is more than ten-times the announced two thousand casualties.

Further, the group summarily dismisses the ?cheaply paid soldiers? as a ?frightened toy,? lacking energy and intelligence to wage an encounter. The statement questions: ?How can such an army win??

A full translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.
