Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues a Statement Announcing that the Arrested Moroccans Have Been Turned Over to the Group’s Shari’a Committee

Al-Qaeda in Iraq issued a statement today, November 1, 2005, announcing that the ?investigation? into the captured Moroccans is complete, and the pair was turned over to the group?s Shari?a Committee for a ?decision.? Included with the message were a series of eleven pictures of the Moroccans? ID cards, identifying them as Abderrahim Boualem and Abdelkrim el Mohafidi.

On October 26, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq issued a communiqué claiming responsibility for kidnapping two Moroccan employees of the Moroccan embassy in Baghdad. Media reports indicate thatthe pair was reported missing Thursday, October 20, 2005, on the road between Baghdad and the Jordan capital, Amman.
