The Difference Between the Muslim French Youth and the Moroccan Youth
By SITE Institute
November 9, 2005

A member of jihadist forum posted a message today, November 9, 2005, titled: ?The Difference Between the Muslim French Youth and the Moroccan Youth,? observing an alleged dichotomy in faith and subservience in the two groups. He believes that the French Muslim youth are rioting in response to the ban on Muslim women in France from wearing the hijab and because of a tear gas bomb thrown into a mosque by French police. Conversely, the Moroccan Muslim youth have demonstrated to defend the Moroccan embassy workers in Baghdad who were captured by al-Qaeda in Iraq.

Responding to this view, one member states that the French Muslim youth are a ?center of loyalty,? and another posits that the French are responding to the message of the Salafist Group for Call and Combat (GSPC), ?A Call to the Sons of Islam in France .? That particular statement encouraged French Muslims to attack Algerian leaders vacationing in France, and vilified the Algerian government while highlighting the French support of the allegedly oppressive regime.

A translation of the message postings is provided to our Intel Service members.
