Ansar Al-Islam [Supporters of Islam] Threaten the Qatari Government
By SITE Institute
December 6, 2004

A message posted to several Jihadist message boards on Sunday, December 5, 2004 reported a statement, purportedly released by al-Qaeda affiliate ?Jamaat Ansar Al-Islam? [the Supporters of Islam Group], threatening the Qatari government for its support of U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan (including its permitting the U.S. military to utilize Qatari infrastructure). The threat, which came in the form of a communiqué from ?The department of Information in the Arabian Gulf countries? of the ?Hamza Bin Abdul Muttaleb Brigade? of the Ansar Al-Islam Group, declares: ?In case our demands are not met, Allah willing, we will give an appropriate response, at the appropriate time and place. We are not to be held responsible for what will happen to you, Allah willing, for it will be the result of your actions, your taking the forces of evil and delusion as your masters, and your abandoning the Ummah and obeying the Jews and the Christians against your brothers the Mujahideen everywhere.? The communiqué was dated Friday, December 3, 2004.

A full translation of the statement is provided to subscribers of our Intel Service.
