By SITE Institute
December 1, 2005

A video depicting four captured men by a group calling itself the Swords of Truth Brigade [Syouf al-Haq] in Iraq was recently distributed amongst jihadist forums by the Islamic Media Center. The men are seen as seated in a row, as the camera pans to each as they state their identity by name and as members of the Christian Peacemaking Team in Iraq. They identify themselves as follows: Norman Kember, 74, Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32, James Loney, 41 and from Canada, and Thomas Fox, 54 and from the United States. A statement included with the video alleges that the men were operating as spies under the guise of a ?Christian peace group?.

Al-Jazeera aired the video on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, including additional footage of the men?s ID cards. The Christian Peacemaking Team provided further identification of the individuals, stating that Professor Norman Kember is from North London in the United Kingdom, and Harmeet Singh Sooden is a Canadian who had recently been studying in New Zealand.

The video clip is provided to our Intel Service members.
