Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility for a New Attack in Baghdad, Assassinating an Iraqi Politician in al-Sayediya, and Operations Targeting Americans in al-Mosul and al-Yusefiya
By SITE Institute
December 9, 2005

Al-Qaeda in Iraq [Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn] issued four communiqués today, December 9, 2005, claiming responsibility for operations Wednesday, including the assassination of a member of the ?devil preaching party? in al-Sayediya, detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) on an American convoy in al-Mosul, and an attack on an American patrol in al-Yusefiya, allegedly killing two soldiers and injuring a third. In addition, the group claims responsibility for a ?new attack? today in Baghdad, seeking to destroy the ?lying media edifices? and revenge the alleged isolation of the Sunni people. The message indicates that the mujahideen clashed at two checkpoints and ?kept on going on the streets,? allegedly putting ?terror in the hearts of the infidels?.

A translation of the four messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
