Ansar al-Sunnah issued a 9:44 minute audio message today, December 22, 2005, spoken by a member of the group on the behalf of its Emir, Abu Abdullah al-Hassan bin Mahmoud. The statement seeks to explicate Ansar al-Sunnah?s position on what is happening in Iraq, concerning the rapid ?continuous development? and alleged conspiracies orchestrated by the Americans, United Nations, Shi?ites, and secular parties within Iraq. Mahmoud addresses the Muslim people in Iraq and advocates that they support the mujahideen, rather than slander and fight them as the ?Crusaders? have them convinced them. He states: ?the enemy's aim is to punish the Muslims in the whirlpool of bargaining, and to convince them that there is nothing to gain from continuous fighting… The Muslims should not humiliate themselves by submitting to the authority of infidels and the converted governments.?
Mahmoud argues that Muslim people must be united to continue jihad and achieve their goal, which he indicates is the achievement of the Muslim nation in Iraq after the Americans are removed from the state. To the mujahideen, Mahmoud instructs them to have patience and remain steadfast on their path, and to ?put aside all differences and arguments which lead to defeat and failure?.
The audio clip and a translated transcript of the speech is provided to our Intel Service members.
