A segment from an interview conducted by Nashrat al-Ansar, an Arabic publication, with Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda?s number two, from its 91st issue in April 1995, was recently distributed to a jihadist forum. The interviewer, Osama bin Abdul Fattah, questions Zawahiri about allegations from the media that Islamic movements, specifically those in Egypt, are receiving support and guidance from the Shi?ites in Iran. Zawahiri responds with an answer detailing the dichotomy between Sunnis and Shi?ites in Islamic doctrines and historical ?scientific facts? that the Iranian Shi?ites have not, nor will ever, support any Islamic movement because they ?refuse to follow Iran or to be a trumpet for it.?
