Al-Qaeda in Iraq issued two videos on Sunday, January 1, 2006, depicting the interrogation and execution of a captured Badr Brigade cell and the bombing assassination of the Diyali governor, respectively. The video of the Badr cell, 11:06 minutes in length, is presented by the Omar Brigade of al-Qaeda in Iraq and shows the image of each captured member of the cell, culminating in their ?elimination.?
The second video, 2:15 minutes in length, shows the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) on a vehicle which is allegedly carrying the governor of Diyali. The group claimed responsibility for this attack in a communiqué on December 26, 2005; however, they issue an addendum in an accompanying message containing an ?assurance? of his death after an attempt was made to save him at a military base. Further, the group claims that his deputy was ?exposed? to a similar situation two days later.
