Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues a Video Depicting the Storming of a Police Station in Behrez, and Claims Responsibility for Attacks Targeting American and Iraqi Forces and Equipment in Arab Jabbour, al-Ameriya, Tal Afar, and al-Tarmiya
By SITE Institute
January 5, 2006

Al-Qaeda in Iraq, in five communiqués issued today, January 5, 2006, one of which had attached a 2:51 minute video, claims responsibility for launching three rockets at an American barracks in Arab Jabbour, a confrontation with Iraqi National Guards in al-Ameriya, detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) on an American convoy in Tal Afar, and exploding four tankers belonging to the American Army in the area of al-Moshahada in al-Tarmiya.

The video depicts the storming of a police station in Behrez on December 26, 2005, when allegedly twenty ?converters? were killed and the mujahideen took control of the station. A mujahid is seen firing mortars at an unseen target, followed by another member of the group firing a machine gun adjacent to a wall and firing an RPG shell. Several bodies of fallen Iraqi police are seen in the video and a scene of flames and plumes of smoke arising from a building culminates in a shot of the mujahideen leaving the area in trucks.

The video clip and a translation of the five messages are provided to our Intel Service members.
