“Let Us Sacrifice, not be Victims” – A Message on the Occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice by the Indonesian Branch of Hizb al-Tahrir
By SITE Institute
January 17, 2006

The Indonesian branch of the Islamic fundamentalist group, Hizb al-Tahrir, on the occasion of the Feast of Sacrifice, issued a message on their website that called upon Muslims to not be victims. They state: "The natural resources of the Muslim Ummah...have been hoarded, looted, and plundered by foreigners before our very eyes without any vengeance by the authorities." The group alleges that Muslims have become victims of the ?capitalist secular system,? in addition to the ?greed and ferocity of oppressive infidels against them.?

Instead, Muslims must "re-unite under the Muslim caliphate." The message urges Muslims to sacrifice thought, energy, time and goods to develop the Muslim Nation, as a reciprocal response to the increased pressure on the Indonesian Muslim community following the arrest and death of Dr. Azhari Husin, believed to be the chief technician behind the Bali bombings, and ?oppressive infidel countries? that are ?truly serious and earnest in working hard and sacrificing what they possess to destroy us forever." Further, the group states: "Let us...continually endeavor to sacrifice...even our lives...and let us not become victims of secular capitalism and the prey of the oppressive infidel who will never cease oppressing and crushing us."

A translation of the message is provided to our Intel Service members.
