A message purportedly addressed by Jaish Ansar al-Sunnah and posted to a jihadist message board on Monday, January 03, 2005, warns non-Iraqis, seekers of the Jihad in Iraq, from responding to internet calls and encourages them to check with ?local jihadist groups and trusted Sheikhs in their countries? before going to Iraq. The justification for this warning is based on fear that some people might be recruiting volunteers for the Jihad for personal interests, in addition to calamities inflicted upon Mujahideen hired through the internet. The message sends an implicit call to send money to the Mujahideen in Iraq, rather than men, for ?Iraq does not suffer from a shortage of individuals but of money and resources?.
A translation of the message is made available to members of our Intel Service.
