The Mujahideen Shura Council Issues a Statement Explaining that Their Mujahideen Do Not Seek to Attack the General Public in Crowded Areas and Claims Responsibility for Bombing an Oil Pipeline in Moweilha
By SITE Institute
February 6, 2006

The Mujahideen Shura Council issued a statement today, February 6, 2006, in which they explain that indiscriminate killings and hastily planned confrontations are not the ways of the mujahideen, but are attempts by the ?group of infidel believers? to tarnish their image and distance them from their ?countrymen?. The group states that acts like that recently in the al-Amin section of Baghdad were not executed by the mujahideen and alleged ?lies? such as this is the ?best weapon? of the enemy.

According to media reports, dual car bombings at a gas station and market in the al-Amin section of Baghdad on February 2, 2006 resulted in the death of sixteen people and injuries to nearly ninety.

In addition, the Mujahideen Shura Council issued a statement over the weekend claiming responsibility for an explosion of an oil pipeline in the area of Moweilha, south of Baghdad.

A translation of both messages are provided to our Intel Service members.
