A twenty-page document titled: ?The Iraq War is the Beginning of the End of American Colonialism: An Analysis of the Forthcoming Events,? and distributed to a password-protected al-Qaeda-affiliated forum, predicts the ?inevitability of the downfall? of the United States and explicates the elements contributing to this loss of hegemony. The author, who seems to have been written the document sometime between 2002 and 2003, argues that a confluence of foreign hostility towards America, mujahideen attacks, competition from global powers such as France, China, Germany, and Russia, and expansion into the Middle East and Asia as leading to the ?downfall?.
In addition to external factors, the author explains that domestic issues may also contribute to America?s alleged plight. The document indicates that American ?Pharaonic? policy of placing more emphasis on foreign concerns, rather than those at home, in addition to unbridled capitalism, expenses incurred and to be wrought through war, racism, crime, and ?right extremist armed militias? will bring America to ruin.
Further, as a ?self-evident? truth, the author states: ?We do not require the knowledge of a civil engineer in order to know that to build is easier than to destroy. Building empires and great countries requires decades, lifetimes of effort and sacrifice… But their destruction and fading away does not require all this. Look: how much did it cost to build the two towers of international commerce? Billions of dollars! How long did it take? Years! How much did it cost to bring them down…? The cost of a one-way ticket! And how long did it take? Several minutes!?
