The Conquering Army in Iraq Issues a Statement Announcing their Establishment, and Releases a Video Depicting a Bombing in al-Khalidiya
By SITE Institute
February 8, 2006

The Conquering Army [Jeish al-Fatheen] recently issued a statement announcing their establishment, indicating that they are a group with ?old roots,? having once joined under the banner of the Islamic Army in Iraq, but have now split due to the needs of the ?coming stages?. According to this message, the group will participate in jihad along the same line as the Islamic Army, and seeks to provide ?shelter? for the mujahideen of all groups because they believe unification will be necessary to fill the vacuum ?after the occupying forces flee?.

In addition, the group issued a forty-second video that depicts the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) on an American Humvee in al-Khalidiya, executed by the group?s ?Calamity Brigade? [Kuta'ab al-Qarea?a].

The video clip and a translation of both messages are provided to our Intel Service members.
