The complete 10:41 minute video message from Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda?s number two, was issued yesterday, February 19, 2006, by the al-Qaeda production company, al-Sahab. The video, subtitled in English, is the full edit of which al-Jazeera redacted and offered only a 3:23 minute audio clip on January 30, 2006. Zawahiri castigates U.S. President George W. Bush for the failed airstrike upon him in Pakistan and addresses the American people of what has been perpetrated by the administration in Washington. Stressed repeatedly in his speech is the allegation that American soldiers have low morale and their ?signs of defeat? are ever present in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The previously unaired portion of the speech features Zawahiri talking of past strikes that targeted him and his family in Waziristan, Afghanistan and Jihadwal camp, launched by the ?foolhardy? President Bill Clinton, and an offer to President Bush to join Islam and all past acts of aggression will be forgotten. In addition to the messages directed to Bush and the American people, Zawahiri addresses Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf, warning him to ?await a day of accounting for the Muslim blood you have spilt,? and urges the Pakistani army and Muslim people to resist Musharraf?s rule and embrace jihad and the mujahideen. He also calls upon Muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan, together, to join around Mullah Omar, the Taliban leader, and unite in jihad.
Further, Zawahiri comments on the Kashmir issue between Pakistan and India, building upon his argument that the Pakistani government is an ?agent? for America, which has designs to ?split up Pakistan and turn it into a lowly vassal state of India?. Zawahiri concludes his speech with a message to the Muslim people everywhere to ?confront the Crusade? and join in jihad.
