A Statement from Ansar al-Sunnah Army Headquarters Concerning the Latest Happenings in Iraq and Alleged Shi’ite Duplicity in the Mosque Bombing
By SITE Institute
February 28, 2006

A statement issued today, February 28, 2006, from the headquarters of Ansar al-Sunnah Army concerning the ?late happenings? in Iraq over the bombing of the Shi?ite mosque in Samarra and the tide of events that ensued, alleges that the Shi?ite government is responsible so that they may ?create a state of chaos.? The group charges that the Shi?ites are executing these plans to coerce the Americans to grant them the sole power in the newly formed Iraqi government and place the Sunnis in a negative position and fear. In addition, the document alleges that America is looking upon the Shi?ites in Iraq as mediators in the growing Iranian nuclear threat, which the sect seek to use to their advantage.

Addressing the Sunni people, Ansar al-Sunnah makes several points about the Shi?ites coercing the Sunnis to make car, as it is the ?last card they can use when the American suggestions do not agree with the Shi?ite ambitions?. Aggression upon the Sunni people and their mosques is to be met with jihad, which the group believes is the ?only way to restore the dignity of the mosques and without a real force, the Sunni people will remain humiliated.? Further, they states that every Muslim should take up arms to defend the Qur?an, mosques, and honor, and fight the aggressor Shi?ites.

Further, Ansar al-Sunnah addresses the Shi?ites that Iran will use them ?as firewood to achieve their goals and to square their accounts with America?.

A translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.
