In a new statement posted to a Jihadist message board today, January 11, 2005, Jaish Ansar al-Sunnah [the Army of the Supporters of the Sunnah] - the insurgency group which has carried out numerous attacks in Iraq - claims responsibility for detonating a booby-trapped car in front of the headquarters of the Salah Eddine Police in Tikrit, causing an unknown number of casualties.
The statement ends with a promise of more serious attacks against Iraqi forces in the future: ?All‚h willing, you will be seeing more from us, and it is going to be more severe, because you have helped the Infidels against the Muslims, and this is the biggest blasphemy - We have warned you repeatedly - and All‚h willing, this is going to be your fate every time.?
Jaish Ansar al-Sunnah is believed to be an offshoot of Ansar al-Islam [Supporters of Islam], the Iraqi terrorist group closely affiliated with al-Qaeda and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
