The Islamic Army in Iraq Claims Responsibility for Operations Targeting “Crusader” and Iraqi Forces in Cities Around Baghdad

Six communiqués were issued today, March 17, 2006, by the Islamic Army in Iraq in which they claim responsibility for various attacks targeting ?Crusader? and Iraqi forces around Baghdad between Wednesday, March 15, 2006 and today, including: assassinating three Badr members in al-A?azamiya; detonating improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on a Humvee and tank in two separate operations in Yathreb and al-Yusefiya, respectively; assassinating a member of the Iraqi police in al-Madaen; bombing an American base in Balad with mortar shells; and attack a convoy of police cars and trucks transporting supplies to the ?converters? in al-Khadra, allegedly killing three and injuring others.

A translation of the six messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
