The Majelis Mujahidin in Indonesia (MMI) has posted on its official website a document dated March 5, 2006 and written by Fauzan al-Anshori, the spokesman for the group, explaining both the purported ?New Crusade? led by the United States against Islam, and responses by Islamic law in accordance with meeting the aggressor. Al-Anshori briefly recounts the history of historical Crusades against Islamic lands, and argues that the new age began following the attacks on New York and Washington D.C. on September 11, 2001. He states: ?Every Christian nation has sent its best forces to be allied under Commando Bush against the power of Islam, which began with the attack on Afghanistan, then Iraq, and soon Syria and Iran. The NC this time encompasses every aspect of life, not just physical war, but also the war for public opinion, economic war, cultural war, etc.?
The document asserts that Islamic law forbids allying with the United States in the war against terror, provide any land for this purpose or surrender Muslims to the U.S. or its allies. In addition, it argues that it is obligatory for Muslims to facilitate their opposition to the U.S and to ?seize back their territory from the grip of the oppressive US and its allies.? Further rulings concern the alliance of Muslim leaders and organizations with U.S. and its ?stooges? and asking help from infidels who do not wage war against Islam for assistance.
