Fifty-One Saudi Scholars Address a Statement to Hamas
By SITE Institute
March 22, 2006

A statement addressed from fifty-one Saudi scholars to the Hamas movement was recently posted to a jihadist forum, in which the conglomerate of university professors, sheikhs and businessmen congratulate the group on their election victory in the Palestinian territories. The message also contains a series of five recommendations to the Palestinian people in particular and Muslims in general, calling for support to the Palestinian cause and to alienate those who attempt to ?stop the preaching and jihad? by pushing the government to relinquish their base. They also call for support to Hamas from the Islamic groups and ?jihad brigades? in Palestine.

Further, the group of scholars posits that Hamas should recognize its success as being predicated on jihad and a ?clear view of the Shari?a towards the Zionist enemy and its occupation of Palestine;? principles of which it still adheres.

A translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.
