Al-Rashideen Army Issues a Video of Downing a Helicopter and the Wreckage in al-Taramiya, North of Baghdad
By SITE Institute
April 4, 2006

The al-Rashideen Army issued a communiqué with a fifty-one second video yesterday, April 3, 2006, claiming responsibility for shooting down a helicopter in al-Tarmiya, north of Baghdad, on March 19. The group states that there is confusion in media organizations reporting that they shot down a plane in al-Yousefiya on Saturday, April 1, an operation that was claimed by ?other brothers.? Seen in the video are parts of the helicopter, followed by footage of what looks like a helicopter descending from the sky into a cloud of smoke and two other helicopters circling above.

Al-Jazeera broadcast this tape yesterday and media outlets reported that footage shown is from the April 1, 2006 downing of a helicopter in al-Yousefiya. The Mujahideen Shura Council claimed responsibility for shooting down a helicopter on April 1, south of Baghdad, but did not indicate the exact location.

The video is available here .
