In a statement posted to the internet today, January 18, 2005, by Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, official spokesperson of ?Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn? [the Base of the Jihad in the Country of Two Rivers - Iraq], headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the group claims responsibility for a suicide operation against the al-Hakim Jamaa - Badr Corps in the al-Jadriyyah area. According to the statement, ?these operations are in retaliation for yesterday?s attacks in Baaquba and Biji.?
Earlier today, Qaedat al-Jihad had posted to the internet several statements claiming responsibility for numerous attacks, among those a suicide attack at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 17 in al-Malaab Street, which according to the group?s statement ?killed more than 10 infidels and burned 3 Hummers, after the lion detonated his car in the middle of their crowd, while he remained in it.?
