The Mujahideen Shura Council issued a video yesterday, April 4, 2006, depicting the destruction of an American base south of Baghdad in which the forces were allegedly caused to withdraw. The film clip shows the approach to the base, which appears to be deserted, and a masked mujahid setting an explosive charge. Then the video takes a rolling shot from the back of a vehicle of the base, followed by the detonation of the explosive.
The group also issued a communiqué in which they claim responsibility for shooting down an Apache helicopter in al-Radwaniya, located west of Baghdad, on Saturday, April 1. As their past communiqué and video of the aftermath indicated a helicopter attack south and southwest of Baghdad, it appears this is a separate incident.
The Mujahideen Shura Council is composed of eight insurgency groups in Iraq: al-Qaeda in Iraq, Victorious Army Group, the Army of al-Sunnah Wal Jama?a, Jama?a al-Murabiteen, Ansar al-Tawhid Brigades, Islamic Jihad Brigades, the Strangers Brigades, and the Horrors Brigades, collaborating to meet the ?unbelievers gathering with different sides? and defend Islam.
