The Islamic Army in Iraq Claims Responsibility for Assassinations Targeting Iraqi Forces in Areas Surrounding Baghdad, and Bombing a Combined Patrol of American Forces and Iraqi National Guard in al-Mosul
By SITE Institute
April 12, 2006

Five communiqués were issued yesterday, April 11, 2006, by the Islamic Army in Iraq in which the insurgency group claims responsibility for operations targeting American forces and Iraqi National Guard. The attacks include: sniping a member of the National Guard in al-Doloeya, north of Baghdad, on Monday, and another in al-Latiifya yesterday; assassinated two members of Badr Brigade Monday in Diyali and seven members of al-Mahdi Army in al-Madaen, south of Baghdad the same day; and detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) on a foot patrol composed of American forces and National Guard in al-Mosul, which allegedly resulted in killing one American soldier and one Iraqi National Guard.

A translation of the five messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
