The Islamic Army in Iraq Claims Responsibility for Bombing and Attacks Targeting American Forces and Iraqi Police in Areas Around Baghdad

In four communiqués issued today, April 19, 2006, by the Islamic Army in Iraq, the group claims responsibility for attacks between Monday, April 17, and today targeting American forces and Iraqi police in areas around Baghdad. They state that a tanker truck of the American Army was destroyed Monday in al-Yusefiya and its driver killed; an American soldier was sniped in al-Moshahada today, in addition to bombing the police headquarters in al-Madaen ; and on Tuesday, the group setup an ambush for an American patrol in al-Ramadi, destroying a Humvee and killing a ?number? of American soldiers.
