The Mujahideen Shura Council Announces the Killing of Over Fifty “Crusader” Soldiers in al-Ramadi, and Claims Responsibility for the Assassination of a General in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense
By SITE Institute
May 5, 2006

A statement issued today, May 5, 2006, by the Mujahideen Shura Council announces the ?good news? of purportedly killing fifty ?Crusaders? in al-Ramadi, in an attack composed of mortar fire, artillery and a suicide bombing this past Monday, May 1. The operation struck a barracks in central Elwat al-Rashid, and emphasis is placed by the group on the actions of the suicide bomber, who pushed through the front door with his truck as if he was saying, according to the message: ?there is nothing between me and Paradise except reaching the place?. As a result, the vehicles around the explosion were engulfed in flames and body parts thrown into the air.

In addition the group issued a message today claiming responsibility for the assassinations of a general in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense yesterday, by detonating an improvised explosive device in al-Dawra, south of Baghdad.

The Mujahideen Shura Council is composed of eight insurgency groups in Iraq: al-Qaeda in Iraq, Victorious Army Group, the Army of al-Sunnah Wal Jama?a, Jama?a al-Murabiteen, Ansar al-Tawhid Brigades, Islamic Jihad Brigades, the Strangers Brigades, and the Horrors Brigades, collaborating to meet the ?unbelievers gathering with different sides? and defend Islam.

A translation of both messages is provided to our Intel Service members.
