Jihad, the Rewards of Martyrdom and the Eternal Life of Martyrs
By SITE Institute
May 17, 2006

A message recently posted to a password-protected jihadist forum glorifies martyrdom for the ?Sake of Allah? and explicates the rewards received by those who give their soul to jihad. The author cites Muslim scholars as he argues that martyrdom is the ?most loved and appreciable? to Allah, in addition to being revered by the Muslim people who purportedly believe that martyrs remains as living beings. He states: ?The pure blood of the martyr strengthens the idea for which he sacrifices himself, and sharpens the determination of people. The martyrs are active elements in the community after they are killed in addition to having a good reputation.?

The message then lists and describes seven ?proofs? that martyrs do not die in earthly death, as the author believes that they do not feel pain, are provided ?daily bread,? are pure compared to those who die absent of martyrdom requiring body washing, and they hover over the living to share in life, occupying ?candlesticks hung from the throne? at night.

A translation of the message is provided to our Intel Service members.
