A Statement from Ansar al-Sunnah Concerning a Joint American and Shi’ite Iraqi Attack on a Sunnis in Bizaiz al-Yusefiya
By SITE Institute
May 25, 2006

Ansar al-Sunnah issued a statement today, May 25, 2006, discussing the American and Iraqi Shi?ite led attack against Sunni residents of Bizaiz al-Yusefiya, south of Baghdad, including the surrounding of the area by more two hundred and twenty ground vehicles and aircraft. According to the message, following the inability of Shi?ite forces to enter the area due to opposition by the young, elderly and female residents of the village, they called for their ?cross masters? and poured ?blind hatred? on the outside houses. They allegedly burned buildings and cars, stole possessions within the houses, and killed whoever stood in front of them, regardless of their age.

The group states: ?To seize a small village that has many unarmed civilians with a big force and with all this equipment, gear, planes, and ammunition is a clear proof that you are weak and have no power.? They also claim that their mujahideen detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) on a foot patrol, killing ten, and causing the eventual withdrawal of the forces. Revenge, Ansar al-Sunnah states, is their ?obligation? against those who spill the Muslims? blood.

A translation of the statement is provided to our Intel Service members.
