The Mujahideen Army Claims Responsibility for Firing Mortar Shells at the British Forces’ Base in al-Basra

The Mujahideen Army [Jeish al-Mujahideen] in Iraq issued a communiqué today, May 25, 2006, claiming responsibility for firing twenty-four mortar shells at the British forces? base in al-Basra on Tuesday night, May 23. Columns of fire and smoke were seen rising from the compound following the half-hour of bombing. According to the message, the international news agencies did not report this news because they allegedly suspected the presence of the ?criminal,? British Prime Minister Tony Blair, in the base at the time of the attack.
