The Harvest of Military Operations of the Taliban Between Saturday, May 27, 2006, and Wednesday, May 31
By SITE Institute
June 1, 2006

The Taliban issued a communiqué today, June 1, 2006, listing operations executed within the period of Saturday, May 27, 2006, through yesterday, Wednesday, May 31, as part of their ?harvest of military operations? in various provinces of Afghanistan. Yesterday, the group claims they attacked a convoy of British forces in Helmond, purportedly destroying two vehicles, and allegedly killed a total of twenty-seven American and Afghan forces in attacks in Arozgan and Konar. The Taliban claims responsibility for several more operations targeting American soldiers and Afghan forces, stating that some members of the Afghan army abandoned their posts and joined the mujahideen.

In addition to claims for attacks, in two instances, the Taliban states that American forces attacked the general Afghan public in Arozgan province, purportedly killing two Arabs and one woman in one attack, and two women, two kids and an elderly man in another.
