Ansar al-Sunnah Claims Responsibility for a Operations Targeting American Forces in Samarra, al-Maqdadiya and al-Mosul, and Assassinating an Interior Ministry Officer in Baghdad

Ansar al-Sunnah issued five communiqués amongst several today, June 1, 2006, claiming responsibility for operations targeting American forces in Samarra, al-Maqdadiya, and al-Mosul, and assassinating a ?responsible man? in Badr Organization who also served as an officer in the Iraqi Interior Ministry in Baghdad. On Tuesday, May 30, the group states they operations a ?particular bold operation? at Samarra Bridge, detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) on American forces and Iraqi police, and also bombing an American convoy in al-Mosul, destroying a truck carrying supplies and food for American troops. In addition, according to the messages, an IED was detonated Saturday, May 27, on an American troop carrier in al-Madadiya in Diyali, purportedly killing between ten and fifteen soldiers; and destroying an American armored vehicle May 25, by detonating an IED on it in Diyali.
