New Video by Zarqawi’s al-Qaeda Group in Iraq Threatens the Muhafez [Governor] of Nineveh Province “Duraid Kashmula” and Ninawa [Nineveh] Radio Station
By SITE Institute
February 2, 2005

A new 8-minute video statement was released today, February 2, 2005, by ?Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn? [al-Qaeda in the Country of Two Rivers - Iraq] and posted to a popular Jihadist message board by Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, official spokesperson of this al-Qaeda-linked group, headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The video addresses a direct threat to the Muhafez [Governor] of Nineveh Province (encompassing the city of Mosul), Duraid Kashmula, and the Ninawa [Nineveh] Radio Station ?for the lies made up about the Mujahideen, accusing them of all kinds of evil deeds.? The statement accuses the Muhafez and Ninawa of fighting God with all their strength, and asks them to explain whether God?s Law or America?s Democracy is more important.

The reader addresses Muhafez Kashmula directly and says ?you should be well aware that the goal of the Mujahideen is to enact God?s Judgment on Earth, unlike what you and your lying radio stations made up about them, saying that they are killers of Muslims, and seeking pleasures through unlawful means.?

As for the elections, the statement says that the only people ?who took part in them were the lowest of the Rafida? [Shiites] and ?the rate of the voters in Mosul did not exceed 5%, despite Mosul being heavily populated.? It continues: ?By God, we promise you, Kashmula, that we are coming to slaughter [you] with swords for your blasphemy and apostasy.?

The statement also directly vows to kill the employees of the Ninawa Radio Station, and further threatens the Iraqi Police, saying: ?We have prepared for you a special program, you worshippers of the Cross.? The statement also expresses regret for the fact that some tribal chiefs deceived them, and vows to punish them for that.

The video is provided to our Intel Service members.
