Sermon from al-Shuhada’a Mosque in Ayn al-Hilwah Camp Eulogizing Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Emir of al-Qaeda in Iraq
By SITE Institute
June 12, 2006

A 36:33 minute sermon by Sheikh Abu Shari Aql at the al-Shuhada?a Mosque in the Ayn al-Hilwah Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, a center of activity for Asbat al-Ansar, featuring a eulogy for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was recently distributed across several jihadist forums. The sheikh reminds Muslims of Islamic history and its battles where leaders were hurt and the people grieved, and Allah comforted the Muslims and asked patience of them and to continue jihad. He heaps praise on Zarqawi, claiming that he disgraced America in war, ?stepped on their cross,? and caused them to weep blood instead of tears. Zarqawi, in his view, was chosen as a martyr despite the ?hating Shi?ites? and Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, due to his spirit and selflessness in jihad, and wish to be martyred again if he were resurrected.

Sheikh Abu Shari Aql claims that Islam may only be won with ?blood and body parts,? and entreats Muslims to jihad by following this line and stand steadfast along its path. He states: ?The blood will be spilled more and more and the body parts will be scattered more and more. We will lose our beloved, our brothers, and our leaders, but we always have to remember that Allah comforted us by saying do not be sad because you are always the best, if you are believers.?
