A Eulogy for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi from Abu Musab al-Afghani
By SITE Institute
June 14, 2006

The al-Fajr Media, a group associated with the mujahideen in Iraq, issued a eulogy written by Abu Musab al-Afghani for the death of the Emir of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Martyrdom?s glory is praised in dramatic language, the author writing that those who depart as martyrs ?become lanterns to illuminate the very dark nights and the pitch black darkness? and paragons for ?sincerity, purity and commando work?. He lauds Zarqawi as a ?consummate? and dedicated leader in jihad, writing much about his personal qualities and standing amongst other figures in Islamic history, such as Emad Eldin Zinki, ruler of Aleppo and Mosul. Further, he congratulates Zarqawi for his martyrdom, praying Allah that he may be able to join the martyrs in Paradise.

Abu Musab al-Afghani, a jihadi ideologist, has in the past written an article titled ?America and the War Swamp,? claiming that the shooting down of American planes in Iraq and Afghanistan will eventually succumb the United States to military and economic defeat.
