QAJ Statement on Counter-Terrorism Conference
By SITE Institute
February 8, 2005

A statement ridiculing the counter-terrorism conference currently taking place in Saudi Arabia was posted, February 7, 2005, to a leading al-Qaeda-frequented Jihadist message board by Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, spokesperson of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi?s Al-Qaeda in Iraq group [?Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn?].

The group?s statement explains that at the conference, ?[b]lasphemy, in all its shapes and forms, and idols … and their wrong ideologies, have all gathered to agree on one thing? - to fight Islam. However, the statement continues by declaring that ?[n]o matter how hard they plot and mobilize, it will not do them any good and will not keep Allâh from getting to them…. This action of theirs is proof that their hearts are terrified by the Mujahideen. It is proof of the intensity [volume] of the crisis that the enemies, the idols, and their followers are going through, and proof that they have tasted the bitterness of defeat, thanks to Allâh Above and to the blessed attacks of the Mujahideen.?

Toward the end of the statement the group promises implacable resistance to the counter-terrorism conferees: ?O Infidels and Idols, you too must expect what will disturb you, for we are going on with our Jihad, and will not stop until Allâh gives us victory over you, until we raise the banner of the Tawhid and have it flutter, and until the Law of Allâh reigns over the country and the people.?

A translation of the statement is provide to our Intel Service members.
