Today, Saturday, February 19, 2005, the Islamic Army in Iraq posted a new message and video on a leading Jihadist message board. In the message, the group claims responsibility for a rocket attack against a United States Army base located in the city of al-Habaniya, Iraq. The accompanying video, produced by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi?s group, Al-Qaeda in Iraq (Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn), shows the attack against the base. Because Zarqawi?s group produced the video, this attack might have carried out by both the Isalmic army in Iraq and Zarqawi's group.
Within the posted communique, the responsible group attests to their success by describing the aftermath of the attack as follows:
"According to the observation squadron, helicopters were seen landing at the site to transport the enemy?s killed and wounded (personnel). The squadron that executed (the action) withdrew peacefully."
A translation of the message and the short video clip are provided to our Intel Service members.
