Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues Two New Communiques Taking Responsibility for Suicide Operation In Mosul and a Confrontation in Ramadi
By SITE Institute
February 22, 2005

In two new statements posted to a leading al-Qaeda-frequented Jihadist message board on February 18, 2005 by Abu Maysara al-Iraqi, official spokesperson of "Tanzeem Qaedat al-Jihad Fi Bilad al-Rafidayn" [the Base of the Jihad in the Country of Two Rivers - Iraq], headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the group claims responsibility for two recent operations.

The first communique claims repsonsibility for inciting a confrontation in the city of Ramadi. The group takes pride in the amount of injuries it inflicted, and promises more attacks through the following words:

"Your brothers in the Al-Qaeda holy war organization in the Land of the Two Rivers are continuing in their holy war until God?s jurisdiction will rule over the worshippers and the country."

The second communique claims responsibility for a suicide operation in Mosul, which the group lauds with high praise, saying:

"(To) our monotheist brothers, this is an achievement of God?s (work), and congratulations to those who witnessed (this)."

A full translation of the the communiques is provided to our Intel Service members.
