Ansar al-Sunna Claims Responsibility for Destroying a Vehicle in a Military Convoy North of Baghdad
By SITE Institute
March 3, 2005

Today, March 3, 2005, Ansar al-Sunna claimed responsibility for the destruction of a military Humvee located in Sabaa al-Bor, north of Baghdad, Iraq. The group, reported to be an off-shoot of another Iraqi insurgent group known as Ansar al-Islam, posted the communiqué on a jihadi message board.

According to the group?s communiqué, ?The car was waiting for a convoy of Christian American forces that was passing by, and thanks to Allah, one Humvee vehicle was destroyed. Parts of Christian bodies of its passengers were scattered, and another Humvee vehicle was damaged and its crew was badly hurt.?

In a warning to the Christian forces, the group went on to proclaim, ?we will [seek] revenge for every Muslim killed by you until Allah will do what is to be done, either victory, or becoming martyrs. As Allah said, ?we can expect from you either that Allah will send His punishment from Himself, or by our hands.? (al-Tawbah 52)?

A full translation of the message is provided to our Intel Service members.
