Al-Qaeda in Iraq Takes Credit for the Attack on the Interior Ministry and the Baquba Attack and Promises a Zarqawi Message Soon
By SITE Institute
March 3, 2005

Al-Qaeda in Iraq (Qaedat al-jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn) posted two communiqués today claiming responsibility for two separate suicide attacks in Iraq on Thursday, March 03, 2005. One attack was on the Ministry of the Interior and the second attack targeted American soldiers outside the city of Baquba, north of Baghdad.

Furthermore, in another posting, al-Qaeda in Iraq promises an upcoming message from Zarqawi: ?you will soon hear a speech from our good sheikh Abu Musab al Zarqawi to our beloved nation, may Allah give him victory.?

The attack on the Iraqi Interior Ministry, according to the communique, was led by ?two of the lion?s suicide brigades, [who] bravely attacked the Ministry of Interior, siding with the enemy.?

This communiqué further stated that the ?intended target [of the bombing] was the Minister of the Interior, [Falah al-Naqib,]…but he fled.?

The second communiqué claims responsibility for ?the brigade in Baquba ignited two explosive devices on two American patrols, killing 19 of them and destroying their vehicles.?

Both communiqués end with the promise: ?Your brothers in the al-Qaeda Organization are still waging their jihad until Allah?s rule conquers all countries and peoples.?
