Al-Qaeda in Iraq Issues Two Communiqués Claiming Responsibility For Attacks in Mosul These Past Two Days and the Attack on an American Convoy West of Baghdad
By SITE Institute
March 17, 2005

In two communiqués issued March 17, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq claim responsibility for five attacks in Mosul that occurred over the past two days as well as an attack on an American convoy west of Baghdad.

The first message inventories their attacks, which included bombing two Humvees, killing an ?infidel supporter,? a colonel of the ?infidel guards,? and burning members of the Iraqi National Guard.

In the second message, the group claims to have attacked a ?convoy of the American crusaders in the district of Abu Graib (Abu Meneiser), west of Baghdad. An armed vehicle was destroyed and a good number of them were killed and their body parts went astray. They tasted the mujahideen?s hell before the eternal hell, they were terrified and ran away taking their shame and humiliation.?

Full translations of the two messages are provided to our Intel Service members.
