Al-Qaeda in Iraq Claims Responsibility for Three Attacks on Convoys of Iraqis and Americans
By SITE Institute
March 21, 2005

On March 21, 2005, al-Qaeda in Iraq, The Jihad Organization in the Country of the Two Rivers, issued three communiqués claiming responsibility for attacks in the al-Adl district in Baghdad and on the expressway to al-Soura, respectively.

The first communiqué congratulates the Abu Bakr al-Siddik Brigade for ?a blessed attack on a convoy of converters, the non-believers? guards in the district of al-Adl near the central market, three cars and killed 10 people, who were turned into pieces,? which took place today.

In the second statement, al-Qaeda in Iraq describes yesterday?s attack on the al-Soura highway by the Abu al-Yaman al-Madaeny Brigade, that destroyed an entire convoy. The message states: ?A number of Americans were killed and our mujahideen refused to withdraw. They stayed to die for Allah. As a result, more Abu al-Yaman members were killed and became martyrs. They did not lose, they won.?

Finally, a third statement claims responsibility for attacks on ?converted police? near Mosul, killing several Iraqi police officers.

A full translation of all three communiqués are provided to our Intel Service members.
