Explosions via Wireless Detonation
By SITE Institute
March 31, 2005

On March 30, 2005, a posting on an al-Qaeda affiliated message board provided instructions for acquiring materials for and the wireless detonation of explosive chargers. This board, in particular, is used for the dissemination of military advice to the mujahideen.

As per the instructions, ?brothers who want to wirelessly detonate explosives and do not have the equipment for it,? should circumvent the black market and refrain from manually building a sending and receiving apparatus. Rather, the poster suggests purchasing a remote car lock to keep costs low.

Besides giving advice for planting charges, the posting suggests using high frequency signals to assign special codes between the sending and receiving mechanisms. If the charger is to be detonated in response to the opening of a car door, then the codes will ?make sure that people do not open other people?s cars and also not to control other people?s planes.?

Further, the message includes a diagram to depict the example of setting up wireless detonation devices to harm a tank.

A full translation of the message is provided to our Intel Service members.
