The Islamic Army in Iraq announces the establishment of The Division of “Nasrat Al-Aqsa” (Supporters of Al-Aqsa)
By SITE Institute
April 9, 2005

The Islamic Army of Iraq, one of the Iraqi?s militant insurgent groups, posted an eight-minute video message calling upon the mujahideen (holy warriors) in Iraq and elsewhere to save the al-Aqsa mosque. In the message, the group had also announced the formation of a new division, ?Nasrat al-Aqsa? (the supporters of al-Aqsa).

This message appears to address the latest developments in Israel, whose authorities have banned a protest by Jewish extremists at a holy site. The ban, according to Israel?s Minister of Internal Security Gideon Ezra, arose because of a recent formation of a group dedicated to building the Third (Jewish) Temple on Temple Mount, the site currently occupied by the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

In the video, an unidentified disguised man on a backdrop of the al-Aqsa mosque indicated that ?the Zionist Jews - the children of apes and pigs? are ready to execute their long-conceived plan, and that ?the time of the Jews? intention has come and their old dream of establishing their alleged temple on the rubble of our noble al-Aqsa is about to come true. They planned to desecrate it on the tenth of this month with their ill will. We were ignorant of their greed.?
The message also says: ?Oh! Mujahideen in Iraq and everywhere, al-Aqsa is calling upon you, the men of the Islamic Army. Al-Aqsa is calling upon you! …Oh! The Army who desecrated the American Flag!?

The video and its translation are provided to our Intel Service members.
